happy friday!

autumn berriesLondon's Autumn colors are still going strong but the rain has officially begun.  It's time I finally get serious about buying some wellies before it's too late...I guess I'll just have to go shopping ;)

Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the season!

This week's three rad links: • Clever designs comparing the Big Apple to the City of Light on Paris Versus New York via State of Unique

State of Unique - new blog for modern design made in America curated by the people who brought you Unique LA (congrats, Sonja and team!)

• Beautiful food blog from down-under, Island Menu. Currently posting their spring plates and come winter, we can live vicariously through their summer meals and photos while we're shaking in our boots.

Fashionably late but still wonderful

So I'm just a liiiiitttllle behind on blogging.

The exciting news I mentioned in a previous post was that Anamu was asked to be a part of the Apartment 3/Unique LA Pop Up Store at HD Buttercup! I'm a big fan of the former Helms Bakery building HDB is in so the location was an extra bonus.

The opening party was held on Friday and boy was I impressed. The space for the store was much bigger than expected and there was truly something for everyone. The crowd was great and the open bar was flowing. Wish I had been in the mood to take advantage of it but we had just driven back from a quick getaway to the Central Coast and we were beat.

It had been a busy week and a half because I needed/wanted to make most of what the store ordered. Since I only had nights and weekends to work on them while simultaneously waiting for new frames to ship (that also required a new pattern), it turned into major crunch time. Thankfully it all got done with the help of my loved ones and I was really happy with the way the new vintage style clutches turned out.

If you're in LA and want to check out the new Anamu pieces and other great local finds, stop by the store, you will not be disappointed! Plus, there's a Father's Office right next door...need I say more?

The Apartment 3/Unique LA store is scheduled to run through January 2011 (perfect for pre and post holiday shopping) and is located at 3225 Helms Avenue, Culver City. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Happy local/indie shopping!

Come on down to OC for a UNIQUE event!

Very excited that ANAMU was selected for this designer showcase in Costa Mesa. The event will be at the LAB, an incredibly hip and indie leaning spot that is unlike anything else in OC.  Word is that a beer garden will be a part of the festivities so come, shop, play and be merry!

p.s. anyone else feel nostalgic for Tragic Kingdom and Gwen's chola threads when they look at this flyer?

Unique LA Spring 2010 is in the bag

It just gets better and better. The folks at Unique LA (spearheaded by the amazing Sonja Rasula) pulled off an incredible two-day event filled with independent design, craft workshops, music, and good people.

ANAMU lucked out with a corner space that was perfect for creating a walk-through gallery feel. I learned a lot from the last show: each bag needs to be highlighted individually. With so many different prints and colors, they each need to shine!

The bags and display got incredible reactions. Lots of oohing and ahhing with some personal compliments that included gals saying that they loved my sense of design and overall aesthetic. So cool :)  Some women literally bolted into the booth from across the walkway to check out a bag that caught their eye!

Though it's always difficult to see my bags go, it's also gratifying and joyful to know that they are going to adoring new owners. Thank you to everyone that came out to support local talent. I had a blast sharing ANAMU with you!

Fin de semana

I <3 my neighborhood. Ran several errands on Sat in prep for Unique LA.

New vintage shop, Haute Olive Boutique, just opened up down the street from me...this is going to be dangerous. Separate blog post to come.

Niece Juliana. Too cool for school as we stroll down the mean streets of Old Pasadena.

This weekend felt long, productive, and relaxing. I haven't had such a balanced Sat & Sun in a while (ANAMU, resting, boyfriend, family, chores, etc). Too many great little things to photograph and write about ... hope that this continues to be the norm :)

Save the Date: Unique LA Spring Show 4/24-4/25

It's not really a show, you dont need to be an industry buyer to attend.  You can actually buy direct from the artists/designers and lucky me, ANAMU will be a part of it!

The second annual Spring Unique LA will once again be held in the penthouse floor of the Cal Mart building in Downtown LA. Shop, eat, drink, create, and lounge ... all with a fab view and happy warm feelings because you are supporting local and independent talent.

Hope to see you there!
